HVA vs Bearden/West Valley Meet Information
Good Afternoon,
I look forward to seeing everyone at our first meet of the season! I have packed as much information into one email as I can, however there was a delay in getting the heat sheets together so I will be sending a follow up with those documents as soon as I have them. I will also be sending a follow up email about captain results as they are not in this one.
MEET INFO
Warmups: We have first warmups from 5:00-5:25. Meet will start at 6:00.
Location: Allan Jones Aquatic Center on UTK Campus
Parking: Please park across the street in the G7 Parking Garage or there is street parking along Volunteer BLVD.
Check-in: All swimmers should check-in with Coach Robbie when they arrive.
PICTURES
We will be having our team photo before our warmup time on deck.
Seniors: All seniors are to arrive BEFORE 4pm. This will be for your seniors banner, which is hung at all future events.
All other team members: Please arrive before 4:15. There will be no make ups for those who miss the photo.
I am including the following section for those families who are new to swim meets or new to HS/MS swim. Those familiar can skip this part.
WHAT TO EXPECT
These meets are significantly shorter than both summer and club swim meets. We expect all swimmers to be racing their best at all times. The coaches will not be keeping track of swimmers event times. It is important for all swimmers to pay attention to what is in the water and know when they should be behind the blocks before their events. Captains will be given heat sheets to help their teams mates in addition to one being posted on the wall in our seating area. Families may watch events from the upper concourse of Allan Jones. Swimmers are expected to be on deck in the team area. We also expect swimmers to be behind the teams' lanes, cheering on their teammates.
WHAT TO BRING
Swimmers should all have goggles, a cap, a swimsuit that is a plain black suit or team suit or plain suit that is the team color. In addition, swimmers should bring a towel, snacks, and water.
All families can join back for this last bit.
OTHER INFO
During the meet, there is to be NO flash photography and NO photography from behind the blocks.
The bathrooms on deck are for swimmers only. The visitor team locker rooms will be available for swimmers under the age of 18. The home team locker rooms are available for swimmers 18+. No parents are to be in the on deck bathrooms; families can use the bathroom in the upper concourse near the concession stand.
Swimmers are expected to respect our facilities. This means cleaning up after your self on deck, leaving the equipment and personal items of others alone, and not playing around in the bathrooms. UT reserves the right to disallow the use of bathrooms should this become an issue.
TEAM CAPS
Team Caps will be distributed after the team photo. This is also a reminder that swimmers are not allowed to wear another teams cap while racing, it is grounds for a DQ.
VOLUNTEERS
If you have not already done so, please check and volunteer for a worker position for the meet, it is the best and most fun way to get to watch you swimmer race up close and personal.
For those of you who have Stroke and turn, Ref, or Starting experience, please check the KISL website here to confirm you have completed the required trainings. If you are interested in being certified for these positions through KISL we encourage you to also check.
Thank you all so much for reading and please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Coach Robbie
