HVA Aquatics 2020-2021

If you are receiving this email, you were either in our email group last year or we received your email address for this season. If you don’t wish to receive our emails any longer, just reply to this email and we will remove you from this list.

Hawk Aquatics Families,

We hope you all are well and have had a chance to enjoy the summer in fresh and unique ways. We were fortunate to have had the opportunity to finish our season off, celebrate our 2020 Seniors and the successful season we had before the school year shut down. The 2020-21 season is quickly approaching and, as with so much else in our lives, this season looks like it may be different than in years past. Decisions regarding the 2020-21 season have not been communicated to us yet, but we wanted to get an initial email out to our swimming families with some information and to gauge interest in this year’s season. Here are a few of the things we know so far:

  • We have not heard a definitive answer from either TISCA (State governing body for High School swimming) or KISL (Knoxville HS & MS Swimming) on changes or dates for this year.  There are several rumors floating around, but at this point, no decisions have been made regarding the season start dates, meets or State Meet.
  • ValleyPalooza is not going to be held this year, so we are asking families to complete the attached survey to provide numbers and answer some questions regarding the team.  Only one family member needs to fill out the survey for all athletes in the family.

  • Responses from this survey will also be used to evaluate pool space needs and reserve practice lanes at UT.  Practice time will be very limited this year
and having a relatively accurate head count early will help us all plan better.
  • If you have traditionally paid your fees by selling a banner, please be proactive in contacting your business sponsors to secure the renewal for this year.
  • We will schedule a parent meeting, most likely virtual, at a later time when we know more information about the upcoming year and have some direction for the season.

Thank you for being a part of Hawk Aquatics. We are hoping that the Aquatics team will be able to enjoy a full and successful season, but also understand the need for caution and flexibility as we collectively figure out ways to live, learn, work and play during challenging and uncertain times.
